“Tales of the Peculiar” by Ransom Riggs book review

“Tales of the Peculiar” is a small book that has stories from the series “Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children”. You do not NEED to read “Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children” to read this book. It definitely helps, and there might be some confusing parts if you don’t, but for the most part it’s not related to the story line of Ransom Riggs other series. It was fantastic! Very whimsical and magical. It’s a collection of short stories so I got through it pretty quickly but I enjoyed every minute of it. Some of the stories I liked better but none of them were absolutely terrible. Some of them sounded familiar, like it was based off another fairy tale, but some of them were completely original. And even the familiar stories were different enough to fit into the peculiar world. As far as characters go since it’s a collection of stories all the characters are different. Something that I like about the writing was that it was very elegant. I felt like I had just stumbled upon this history of amazing people. Not to mention the cover and the other smaller touches in the book are so beautiful!

I gave this a 5/5 stars!

  1. I loved Miss Peregrine’s series and I absolutely loved that they added a book like this to this series. Some of the stories were so fun and others were a little dark. But still an amazing little book. 😊

  2. Great review! I also write book reviews, but mainly for nonfiction books.

I have learned the lessons that successful people had to learn the hard way from reading their books, which is something that I don’t think most people consider when they pick books.

If you are interested in what the benefits are from reading nonfiction, please stop by my page. I post book reviews for inspiring nonfiction, and an occasional bit of advice.
